Edit : damn, i just realised, are you actually meeting some losses of compressions with your engine ? ( and BHR ignition coil failure ? :/ )

im fearing u already... hahahaz!

my car can never beat urs.... :'( (humble)

are u one of them tat is ordering the BHR ignition coil.... Nah... my engine is running fine but fails the compression test (im guessing it is the starter fault now)... im finding someone that knows how to decipher what the numbers mean...

HS : Hors Sujet in french

In english, I think it's "out of topic" or "off topic"

@ Blacknightz, no i'm running a full MSD ignition system ( freakin' great ), built by a friend on the forum ( JMI ) living in Corse ( a paradise island in the south of the France ;) ), greatly improved the engine's efficiency in addition of others modifications. I'm just buying a BHR midpipe, i'll never buy anything else from them.

You got guys around here to speak to if you wanna know more about your compression's results, do not hesitate, i'll try to pull them around here.

that would be greatz.. any info on the engine would be greatz...

originalz thread is here.... http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=211529

Short story, shorter.....

Have overhauled an engine, with the workshop claiming to replace all parts... housing, rotors, apex seals, sidewalls, and reused the corner springs (as they said this needs no replacing) with mild porting...

So far, engine does not suffer any loss of power. Pickup is fantastic!

However after running in, i decided to do a compression test...

1st workshop = failed
( just for info... front rotor at 182rpm ------> 0.55 / 0.55 / 0.51 rear rotors cant read)
--> Front rotor @ 250rpm 0.65 / 0.65 / 0.61
--> Rear rotor @ 250rpm 999 (means, no reading)

2nd workshop = passed (but remarkably? let me know)

*first he said that 04' (pre-fl rx-8) has a weak starter... The FL rx-8 (think here it is called s2 units) has a better starter.... (anyone knows where to get them?)
Thus he say he needs to use this conversion to get the results... It wont differ much, he said...

http://virusakos.freevar.com/web/RX_8_W ... lator.html

Choose measurement unit: PSI
Choose results unit: PSI

Front Rotor:
RPM = 187
First Chamber = 100
Second Chamber = 98
Third Chamber = 100

Rear Rotor:
RPM = 187
First Chamber = 116
Second Chamber = 115
Third Chamber = 114

After conversion............................................................

Front Rotor:
First Chamber [ 98.6, 120 ] : 122.11
Second Chamber [ 98.6, 120 ] : 120.11
Third Chamber [ 98.6, 120 ] : 122.11
Chambers Difference [ <21.8 ] : 2

Rear Rotor:
First Chamber [ 98.6, 120 ] : 138.11
Second Chamber [ 98.6, 120 ] : 137.11
Third Chamber [ 98.6, 120 ] : 136.11
Chambers Difference [ <21.8 ] : 2

Rotors difference [ ,14.5 ] : 16

  • So is my engine reading like it is brand new or just fairing well?

  • Is it true that the 04-08 models starter are weak? I have read abt these and it seems to be true... Is this starter one of the possible cause why i have a slight delay when cranking up the rx-8? (i use to think that my delay in cranking was because of my relocation to the rear boot) the delay is like 1 or 1.5 sec delay compared to other friend's stock rx-8...

  • why the difference is the two workshops? any truth?

  • anyone knows how to convert the readings in the 2nd workshop to readings of MPa instead of PSI?

Any help or shedding more light on this matter is greatly appreciated..

Thank you.

You just said it, they're fast like Tsar on a track day with his car ( wich means REALLY slow you can't imagine :D ) and the worst guys in communication i've never seen, but, most of time, they seem to do a good job, i'm trying my luck this time with 'em, but i do not need their other stuff, so by the way, i won't trade with them again.

ahh.... thanks for the linkz... but at that price and in pounds...and furthermore not sure if it is the 2009 brand new starter for the s2 units.... i tink BHR is selling the same one (revised version) at 350 usd...

anyone knows where to get the s2 units starter (aka FL rx-8) starter?

Oh thanks Tsar! blame google.... they did the translation for me... and for those others that did not read the past posts... im still posting here because i have difficulty understanding and have a hard time navigating through the other threads... so far the other one i understand is the multimedia section with the pics and vids :D

I do not have any links in my time, but try to type "Folembray RX8" on youtube and you should find the Youtube account "tsargate" wich belongs to tsar, there's some nice videos on it, it's a little track in the north of france where we all go one or two times in year.

I'll give a look.
